The import hopper provides the facility for cake to be brought in from other sites and loaded into the plant using a front-end loader.

The plant detects the presence of cake in the import hopper and automatically sends it into the dosing system whenever there is capacity to receive it.

The imports are treated simultaneously with indigenous cake received from the site centrifuge.

There is a facility for the operator to select by-passing the lime plant to allow cake from the centrifuge to discharge onto the cake pad for collection and mixing with imported cake. This facility is used if the imports have too low a dry-solids content to be handled efficiently. The resulting mixture can then be loaded into the import hopper.

Treated cake is stockpiled in the holding bay for collection and disposal to land by local contractors.
